News - October-December 2007

Dear Member,
Please find enclosed a copy of the newsletter for October,
November and December.
This is just a short news letter as it is late coming out this
is due to us all being so busy at the centre over the past few months just to
recap here are a few things that have happened:
France 2007: In August 40 members headed to the south of
France for our usual training camp, it was another great trip with some
impressive paddling, photos will be on the website as soon as possible.
Congratulations to the 25 paddlers who gained 1,2 3, or 4 star awards. Click for
PICTURES OF THE TRIP
Llandysul River and Walking festival: In August 100
people took part in our four day river festival, everyone had a great time on or
in the water. During the event we also organised river swims, adventure walks,
pool sessions, climbing and abseiling. Food was provided and we also ran a
slalom competition so you can see how big the event was. Massive thanks to the
30 or so volunteers who helped out at the event.
Division 1 and 2 slalom: With almost 200 competitors this
years slalom event was again a great success with low water levels everyone had
to work hard to get fast times, many thanks to all of you who helped out this
weekend.
Austria: 4 of our club members competed in Austria at an
international, almost all of our paddlers could have paddled in the u14’s cadet
race but chose to compete in the more competitive under 18’s race, the
competitors were Gwawr Evans, Ciaran Lee Edwards, Steffan Walker, Owain Evans.

in Llandysul run by Alix and Suzanna so if you are looking for some kayaking or

CLUB DAY - Saturday November 17th
After the success of our last club day we have organised another
one on Saturday November 17th. It is a bit of a get together in the centre for
all those that can make it, the idea of the club day is to meet at 10am in the
morning and give our centre and river a bit of tender loving care. Hopefully we
will have a bit of fun painting, repairing boats, making new slalom gates and
cleaning the river banks. After all this hard work we will have a paddle then
off the water for a pizza and relaxing evening in our new clean looking club
house (sounds nice doesn’t it!) If you can make it please come with lots of
energy, old clothes, a paint brush and if you are in the D I Y trade your tools.
