Llandysul Paddlers
FRANCE 2010
Listed below is some information on the trip to France.
Departure Date: Monday August 23rd 2010 at 10am from Llandysul Paddlers and Catching the Ferry at 18.30 pm
Returning On: Wednesday September 1st 2010 at 7pm back at Llandysul Catching the 11.20am Ferry from Calais.
About the Trip: The trip is going to be open to all paddlers, we will be travelling in a Coach and Centre bus and we will be sailing from Dover to Calais.
This year’s trip is going to be 10 days camping starting next to the river Ardeche in the south of France. On the way back North we will stop at a man made site near Leyon. This years trip is aimed at easy water with no more than grade 3 being paddled.
This is a plan for each day:
Monday August 23rd: Meet at llandysul at 8.30am, Depart from Llandysul at 10am, Catch the ferry at 6.30pm
Tuesday August 24th: Arrive at the Ardeche by arround 10am and spend the day setting up tents and paddling on the river next to the campsite at Tunnels for further information on the site follow this link Tunnels Campsite.
Wednesday August 25th: Split camp the older paddlers will be heading further up the Ardeche and paddling some rapids, with the younger paddlers staying on the river next to the campsite developing paddling and swimming skills. We have hired in local guides to show us the upper Ardeche for this day.
Thursday August 26th: Another Split camp the older paddlers will be heading further up the Ardeche and paddling some rapids, with the younger paddlers staying on the river next to the campsite developing paddling and swimming skills. Friday August 27th: We will start our descent of the Ardeche river taking sleeping bags, food and drink with us, no tents are needed as we will be wild camping!
Saturday August 28th: This will be the second part of the descent we should finish at arround 4pm then head back to our tents at Tunnels campsite.
Sunday August 29th: Today we will be heading for the Lyon site we should get to the site by 2pm and everyone should get a paddle on the man made site in the afternoon, this site isup to grade 3 but with slower sections if you do not fancy paddling a kayak on this site you can go ww rafting or hydrospeeding!
Monday August 30th: Staying at the site in Lyon, and having our end of trip Party!
Tuesday August 31st: Staying at the site in Lyon,then at about 8pm we will be heading for Home.
Wednesday September 1st: Catching the 11.20am ferry from Calais to Dover then drive back to Llandysul for about 7pm.
We will sort out: Cooking Equipment, All Transport, Ferry Tickets, Instructors, Camping and All Main Meals at the sites but not when travelling.
You Can Sort Out: Your Passport, Your E1 11 forms (Post Office), Canoeing kit (Or borrow the clubs), Spending money in Euros, Sleeping bags, travel insurance and spare clothes.
Maximum Numbers: 59 (Book early)
Cost: £350 each.
