Current outdoor pursuits qualifications - permanent staff

The staff who work at the centre have many years of experience in working in the outdoor environment. All have been Police CRB checked and all hold full first aid certificates.


Gareth Bryant

Gareth is from Llandysul and first started canoeing on the river Teifi at the age of 11. He has been the manager of the centre since it opened in 2000 and is also the watersports development officer for Carmarthenshire County Council. Gareth is a level four inland Kayak coach, a 5 star paddler and has a variety of additional NGB awards.


Nick Bates

Nick lives each day with the comfort that life just doesn’t get any better if you really do love your job! Nick is the assistant manager of the centre and now lives in Llandysul. Nick is originally from llanelli and grew up as a keen skateboarder, which is still a big passion in his life. Nick completed his NVQ level 3 in outdoor education in 2002 and also picked up the student of the year award from the CCTA Graig college in Llanelli. Nick is a BCU level 4 inland kayak coach, 5 star paddler and has his MLTB single pitch award and mountain leader, he also holds a variety of additional NGB awards. As well as all of the above Nick is also the dad of Teva and Eden.


Dan Melbourne
 

Dan has had two years experience working at the centre with all diffrent groups and a veriety of abilities, he enjoyes an elaborate mix of outdoor activities. He studied for three years at Trinity College Carmarthen where he gained a degree in Outdoor Education. During his time at tritnity Dan was a able to develop his skills. Dan is bilingual in Welsh and English and enjoys working with groups promoting and developing the Welsh language.  Dan is qualified as a summer Mountain Leader, SPA Training, UKCC Level 1, UKCC level 2 (T), Level 3 Kayak Coach, 4* WW Leader and Raft Guide. In the future dan is pasionate about developing the acessablitiy of the outdoors and encuraging the implimentation of the adventourus aspect of the Welsh curriculum for physical edcuation. 


Tommy Power

Tommy is a local slalom champion, having paddled for the best part of 15 years he has just returned to slalom racing after a 3 year break, he has been re-ranked into prem division and is looking forward to a good 2011 season.  Tommy is in the process of coaching the current Llandysul Slalom team. 

Lili, Sam, Teva, Eden 

Lili and Sam help with painting and decorating in the centre. They also take part in food testing and demolition.

Lili is 8yrs, Sam is 6yrs, Teva is 2 year old and Eden is 1 day.

Alix Bryant

Alix works part time for the centre organinsing and running the centre hospitality. Her other full time job is looking after Lili and Sam who help with the creative art in the centre. Alix is originally from Wimbledon and studied leisure and tourism in Esher college before moving to Wales.

Teresa Evans

 Teresa is the lady at the end of the phone who deals with all the bookings, enqiries, and all of the office admin. From time to time she is assisted by her two top boys Josh and Jake.
