The staff who work at the centre have many years of experience
in working in the outdoor environment. All have been Police CRB checked and
all hold full first aid certificates.

Gareth Bryant |
Gareth is from Llandysul and first started canoeing on the
river Teifi at the age of 11. He has been the manager of the centre since it
opened in 2000 and is also the watersports development officer for
Carmarthenshire County Council. Gareth is a level four inland Kayak coach, a
5 star paddler and has a variety of additional NGB awards. |

Nick Bates |
Nick is the assistant manager of the centre and now lives in
Llandysul. Nick is originally from Llanelli and grew up as a keen
skateboarder, which is still a big passion in his life. Nick completed his
NVQ level 3 in outdoor education in 2002 and also picked up the student of
the year award from the CCTA Graig college in Llanelli. Nick is a BCU level
3 inland kayak coach, a 4 star paddler and has his MLTB single pitch
award and Mountain Leader, he also holds a variety of additional NGB awards. Nick lives each day
with the comfort that life just doesn’t get any better if you really do love
your job! |

Gemma Sims |
Gemma is originally from Salisbury who completed a degree
course in outdoor education and sports studies with Trinity College in 2004.
After spending some time travelling and working at various outdoor centres
Gemma settled down in Llandysul during 2005. Gemma is a keen sportswoman and
has swam for the county and enjoys most outdoor sports. Gemma is also a BCU level 3 inland kayak coach, 4
star paddler and has her MLTB single pitch award as well as her Mountain
Leader, Gemma is also qualified to run coasteering and gorge walking
sessions. As well as working at our centre Gemma also works part time for
the Welsh Canoeing Association as the women and girls community coach for
south West Wales. Over the next 3 years Gemma will be working towards her

Dave Newport |
Dave has worked at the centre since August 2006 as our head
of coaching. Dave's qualifications include BCU 5 star award, he is a level 5
trained coach, MLTB
Single Pitch Award and mountain leader training. Dave is also a white water
safety and rescue technician as well as an A4 assessor. |

Lili and Sam |
Lili and Sam help with painting and decorating in the centre.
They also take part in food testing and demolition. Lili is
4yrs and Sam is 3yrs old. |

Alix Girard |
Alix works part time for the centre taking bookings and
looking after the administration side of things her other full time job is
looking after Lili and Sam who help with the creative art in the centre. Alix is originally from Wimbledon and studied leisure and tourism in
Esher college before moving to Wales. |
